When the 2/4 receives orders _ must take his men on a mission to eliminate the Viet Cong raiders squatting in west of Van Tuong. As they landing at their LZ, American artillery begin firing on the VC position in the jungle. After a day of fierce fighting they set up small defensive positions to fend off any opposition. Soon the Viet Cong attack their position spending the night repelling the relentless attack. At dawn the VC retreat back into the jungle. The next day the platoon is ordered to search the forward area for a missing patrol. Moving upriver they find an open area with brush knee-high in the jungle littered with dead VC soldiers. As they move through the graves they are signaled to stop by the point man. Unaware VC soldiers have hidden themselves amongst the dead waiting to ambush and pin down the platoon. In the resulting firefight several men are killed. Tending to the wounded _ sends a small detachment of Marines lead by _(2) to complete the mission. Along the way they encounter an advancing VC squad and are pinned down. Fortunately the missing patrol flanked the VC squad saving _(2) and his group. After they regroup _(3) the missing patrols leader reports that the VC have a well-hidden bunker housing several machine guns at the top of the hill.
